TOKEN RING

. Token Ring is a type of local area network. It was developed by IBM in 1984. Token Ring technology became the basis for the IEEE 802.5 specification adopted as a standard in 1985. The IEEE 802.5 specification is almost identical and fully compatible with the IBM Token Ring network. The term "Token Ring" is commonly used to refer to both the Token Ring IBM network and the IEEE 802.5 network. Token Ring LAN is not as widespread in the world as Ethernet because of its relatively expensive hardware.
