ETHERNET

. Ethernet is a set of frame-based computer network technologies on which most local area networks are based. These standards have a common (similar and interoperable) channel layer protocol and historically different physical layer connection standards (some of which are partially interoperable (eg 100mbit devices can work with the 10mbit standard)). The initial ethernet version ran at 10Mbit / s and was standardized to IEEE 802.3, using coaxial cables in the bus topology. Later, a twisted pair version was developed using star topology. Using the same cables (increasing standards for cable quality to further standards), 100mbit and 1000mbit standards were developed. There are also standards where fiber optic cables are used, where the network topology is either star or point-to-point.
